The Authorities of Malta has taken action against timeshare companies, who employees salesman to reach to the maximum possible buyers, because visitors have complained about the irritating nature of the sales staff in the street while on holiday. The increase in the amount of complaints was due to the holidaymakers who have objected about the waste in their time to attend presentations of four hours everyday with the hope anyone will properties in Malta.
Based on the injury it doing to the economy, the island’s tourist authorities has now decided to act against to it. According to the Roger Munns of Malta travel guide sometimes on a daily basis few holiday makers are being approached twice as they are being paid a commission by the timeshare touts to convince potential buyer to attend the presentation. The people who refuse to visit are been abused and even being followed till they agree to attend the presentations.
Based on the high pressure sales staff the Malta Tourist Authority predicted that visitors will not desire to return to the island and thus the country will loose millions and millions of revenue from the repeat visitors as holiday market is the important to the economy of Malta.
In order to implement the legislation properly, the Malta Tourist Authority (MTA) was paid 3000 Euros for each representative the timeshare companies employ. Without taking the incident to the courts the MTA will be fine the companies, who are breaking rules, and take the money out of the deposited bond money, which will be reimbursed by the timeshare companies later on.
The action against timeshare representative is important because once a tourist in Malta was followed by a young male and female timeshare staff in a car. The timeshare staff aims at UK tourists because UK is main market for Malta. Malta believes that the Malta economy is losing much more money than the timeshare staff is earning because tourists harassed by the staff are not willing to visit the country again. Finally, Malta Tourist Authority is taking all steps to protect the economy of the island.
