Malta’s History

The history of Malta is both old and interesting. Now Malta had been civilized for more than seven thousand years. The earliest part of the history was written in the Neolithic period, which means the Neolithic’s been the first ones to rule the island of Malta. One can still find the antiques of the first residents in Malta. Big temples made out of stone are the key example of that period. They are found in Hagar Qim, Gozo and other places of the island.

Stone temples in Malta are the oldest monument in the world, which was build a millennium before the Egyptian period. The stone temples in Malta are the oldest structure in the world, which is still standing.

The primary chapter in the history of Malta started after the entrance of St Paul, who came to Malta because his ship got ruined while traveling. Afterwards that location was named St. Paul's bay. Since then the population of Malta tuned Christian as St. Paul spread Christianity there.

Invasion of Arabs in Malta
The Arabs, which play a vital role in the history of Malta, occupied the island in eight hundred and seventy AD and continued to stay for two hundred and twenty years. Maltese, which was the prime language of Malta, was initiated by Arabs only. After the Norman Sicilians detached Arab from Malta Christianity again entered the island in complete force. Until fifteen hundred and thirty AD the Norman Sicilians ruled over Malta.

The Maltese Knights
The Knights of Malta conquered the Norman Sicilians from Malta and improved the living conditions there to a greater extend. The Maltese knights constructed a lot schools and hospital in Malta and also formed a successful trading atmosphere. It was one of the memorable eras in the history of Malta.
